At Wekeela, campers get the opportunity to embark on daily adventures. Best of all, they don’t even need to leave our campsite! Campers walk on our hand-crafted bridge over the Hayford Brook. What follows is a rich natural landscape of hiking trails. Awaiting campers at the end of the nature trail is the Lenape Village!
The Lenape Village is home to our two authentic tipis, a campfire pit, and dozens of blueberry bushes. Our Campers can eat wild blueberries warmed by the Maine sun or make s’mores over a traditional campfire. They also get to stretch their boundaries in our environmental education program that takes advantage of Maine’s natural landscape.
One of our favorite books is Richard Louv’s Last Child in the Woods. It inspired us to create the Lenape Village at Wekeela.
